Dr. Karl-Ulrich Braun-Dullaeus

Uli started his own business with colleagues in 2002. Since 2019, he has been an equity partner in the law firm Braun-Dullaeus Pannen Emmerling (BDPE) in Düsseldorf.

After his patent attorney training, he obtained the German and European qualifications and has been a patent attorney since 1998.

He has successfully been representing and defending large corporations in patent litigation involving allegations of infringement in the field of telecommunications, as well as in extensive attacks on the validity of asserted patents. As a result, he earned the name “Mr. Mobile Communications” in this field. According to competitors, he “makes even the most complicated technical issues understandable.”

Uli is authorized to represent clients at the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG), the European Patent Office (EPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). His work also includes drafting patent applications and conducting grant proceedings.

He studied physics at the University of Heidelberg, and obtained his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics. Until 1994 he worked as a physicist in applied nuclear physics, semiconductor and solid state physics, physical oceanography and medical physics.
