Dr. Ezgi Yilmaz is a professional representative before the European Patent Office and has been practicing in the field of intellectual property since 2018.

Until she joined BDPE in 2023, her main focus was drafting patent applications and oppositions in English and in German, as well as conducting patentability and invalidity searches. She gained her experience in the technical fields of automotive engineering, electrical engineering, medical engineering, sports goods and tobacco manufacturing.

At BDPE, she is actively involved in patent litigation proceedings and deepens her expertise in the field of telecommunications, in particular video and audio coding.

Dr. Ezgi Yilmaz obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science at Istanbul Technical University, after which she completed her joint European Master’s degree in Materials Science at Hamburg Technical University and Aalborg University. Ezgi also successfully completed projects related to materials in electrical engineering such as ferroelectric materials and coating for solar absorbers. Subsequently, Ezgi specialized in her doctorate degree in experimental research of biological tissues, teeth and bones. She has profound knowledge in materials characterization by electron microscopy, nanoindentation and fracture mechanic tests. Besides this, Ezgi published numerous scientific papers and gave talks at international meetings.

Prior to joining BDPE, Ezgi worked as a patent engineer at Grünecker Patent Attorneys and Attorneys-at-law in Munich.
